In 2006, Rick Rubin got Neil Diamond to strip away his lush sound and lay down a terrific new batch of songs. Two years later, the two do the exact same thing again, and though the element of surprise is missing this time out, it still is the perfect format to remind the world what a unique singer-songerwriter Diamond is. "Don't Go There" has that special Neil swagger, "Act Like a Man" proves that Neil belonged on stage with the Band in The Last Waltz and "The Power of Two" has that full-hearted conviction that only Neil Diamond brings to the pop landscape.
